Embracing the Messy, Beautiful Unknown

— real conversations on relationships, therapy, and the messy, beautiful reality of not always having the answers.

About Me

Therapy isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about staying open to the messy, beautiful, and uncertain parts of life. I’m Dr. Aimee Hubbard, a couples therapist, researcher, and AAMFT-approved supervisor who helps people deepen connection, embrace the unknown, and navigate relationships with curiosity instead of fear. Whether through therapy, teaching, or writing, my goal is to make mental health knowledge accessible, real, and a little bit nerdy. Welcome!

Therapists are taught to know things—but what if growth comes from staying with the questions? Stay Confused explores the messiness of becoming and evolving as a therapist, embracing uncertainty, and learning from the pivotal moments that shape us. Featuring insights from leaders in the field, this book is for anyone who has ever wondered, Am I doing this right? (Hint: There’s no one right way.)

Relationships—whether with ourselves or others—are messy, complicated, and deeply important. If you're feeling stuck, disconnected, or overwhelmed, therapy can help. I work with individuals and couples to navigate challenges, strengthen connections, and create meaningful change.

I see clients through The Kansas City Relationship Institute (KCRI), where we focus on helping people build healthier, more fulfilling relationships. Ready to take the next step?
